Updated September 2004

At Partners in BeautyŽ, we are committed to maintaining your privacy and trust. This privacy policy explains how we collect, protect, use, and share information about you, including on our Web site, and/or through your membership in Partners in Beauty. We hope this information increases your confidence in Partners in Beauty and enhances your experience on our Web site.

Information We Collect
We collect the following information from you when you visit our site:
  • The name of the domain through which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com if you use America Online);
  • The date and time you access our site;
  • The Internet address from which you linked to our site (the Web page you "clicked" from to get to our Web site);
  • The unique Internet address of the computer you used to access our site;
  • Your browser (i.e., Internet Explorer 5.5); and
  • The operating system of your computer (i.e., Microsoft Windows NT 4.0).
We use this information to administer our Web site, to help diagnose and troubleshoot potential server malfunctions, and to gather broad demographic information.

To help make sure you receive information that is relevant to you, our site uses data "cookies." These cookies are small pieces of information stored on your computer that help us keep track of who is visiting our site, and personalize your experience when you arrive. There are ways to limit the information collected through technology-e.g. by disabling your cookies-though some of the features on our site will not work if you decide to do this. Our Web pages contain electronic images (called "Clear GIF", "Single-Pixel Gif", or "Web Beacon") that allow us to count page views or to access cookies. In general, any electronic image viewed as part of a Web page, including an ad banner, can act as a Clear GIF. Typically, though, Clear GIFs are very small (1-by-1 pixel size) files. They are often invisible on the Web page, but their presence can be easily detected within Internet Explorer by clicking on "View" and then on "Source." Clear GIFs are so small in order not to use valuable space on the computer screen that is better used to display helpful content. We also include Clear GIFs in HTML-formatted newsletters in order to count how many newsletters have been read. In addition, some advertising networks that serve ads on our Web site will occasionally use Clear GIFs within banner advertisements. Our Clear GIFs do not collect, gather, monitor or share any personal information about our Web site visitors; they are simply the technique we use to compile our anonymous, aggregated statistics about Web site usage.
